Music Movement and Arts Class Description and requirements

MMAS is an early learning developmental program that uses games and play as an introduction to music, movement, and art appreciation. This class is intended to give early learners and introduction to structured activities. It is intended to help develop: (PILES) physical (p), intellectual (i), language (l), emotional (e), and social(s) in a fun and playful setting. This class ties into the early learning curriculum as an ideal supplement to daycare/nanny or preschool.

Gekos: 18-24 mos (guardian assistance required)
Turtles: 24-36 mos
Alligators:3 to 5 years

Sample of Activities:

-Singing

– Musical games

-Clapping/Rhythm games

-Simple structure building

 -Introduction to ABC

-Introduction to Shapes and Sounds

-Story time

-Intro to Instruments

Gecko Class (18-36 mos)

Expectations:

  • At this age the student should be accompanied by an attentive guardian throughout the class (no phones please)
  • Guardian will encourage student in a positive and excited manner throughout the class
  • For many this is their first structured activity. A little anxiety, crying is completely appropriate, for many it can take up to 3 weeks of consistent attendance to build that trust with the instructor and feel comfortable in the new environment.
  • Every child is stronger in certain areas as it pertains to PILES, meaning every child picks up each activity at their own pace, each child is to be encourage at their own pace and not compared to anyone else.

Sample Turtles Class (3-5 yo)

Expectations:

  • At this age the student should be able to complete that class unassisted to participate, parents are encouraged to watch quietly especially if child has challenges with structured activity and my need to take a break.
  • This class will involve coloring and preschool level reading and writing activities, student should feel comfortable holding a marker.
  • This class will involve a review of the ABCs and introduction to reading and sight words
  • At this point student should have had some level of experience with structured activities.

Preschool music program
